While the world struggles with the COVID-19 pandemic, a truly global response is needed. However, an appropriate risk assessment and proper communication were not activated in time or are still severely lacking. Cross-sectoral interdependencies (economy, education, health, media etc.) have not sufficiently been taken into account. In this ongoing crisis, technology and social media can serve both as an information resource but also as a source of disinformation and mistrust regarding public health measures. While the former can help save lives, the latter may cost them. In an infodemic - where information is overly abundant - it is becoming increasingly difficult to distinguish between fact and fiction. We cordially invite you to this event that will examine the breadth, reach and efficacy of disinformation concerning COVID-19. We will learn what Facebook does to counter disinformation and hate speech. We are also looking forward to hearing from one of America's foremost intelligence experts. This mini-conference aims to reunite alumni of the 2019 TechCamp Tutzing, while also bringing in new talent. Alumni are welcome to bring an interested colleague along to this virtual gathering. The two grantee teams from TechCamp Tutzing will get to present the results of their efforts from the previous conference.
